Kicx 106 R4C Christmas Bash with The River Town Saints, Dani Strong & Rob Watts Band

KICX 106 sure knows how to throw a party, last Saturday night at Mavricks in Barrie was the place to be. Not only did they have the River Town Saints, Dani Strong and Rob Watts band in he house, it was the official Argos Grey Cup party. The best part of all, this was all in support of their Radio for Cardiology Campaign.  This is a joint campaign as KICX 106 and 104.1 The DOCK first pledged $500,000 together to support the purchase of a cardiac catheterization lab to be installed at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. After raising over $450,000, they decided to double their previous commitment and raise a total of $1-Million! Currently, the closest care is in Newmarket, which is outside the 90 minute gold standard for treatment for many Simcoe Muskoka residents. Amazing events like these will help to reach this incredible goal!

To kick-off the night local talent Rob Watts Band warmed up the crowd. They are well known on the local music scene in Barrie and we’re given a great response from the crowd. They were energetic, fun as they engaged with the crowd. Rob has a great set of pipes and hit all the right notes as they did some covers like Brothers Osborne and Luke Bryan. They also played their current hit Good Time On and everyone seemed to be just doing that.

Another amazing local talent Dani Strong took the stage and if you haven’t had the chance to check her out you are missing out. I’ve said this many a time before but truly mean it, Dani has such an incredibly beautiful voice. It is so powerful and poignant and she is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside. Joined by her husband (drummer)Grant and the rest of the band they put on a high energy show. Having a ton of fun together and with the crowd always sharing laughter, snippets and stories throughout their set. They played many songs from their debut album Time To Breathe including their hits Wild One and What You Need.

The crowd was primed and ready to go for the boys of the River Town Saints. You can absolutely tell these guys love what they do every time they hit the stage. I had the chance to chat with the guys before the show and I asked them about their chemistry and how much fun they have on stage. You’ll have to check out my interview with them for their full response, but basically Jeremy told me its because they are all friends and they love what they do. You can always see it in their performance they genuinely love their fans and what they do. The guys are full of energy and completely have a blast. They were also joined by the Argos and cup on stage, each member taking a quick swig from the cup while still playing, way to go guys, not bad for Red Black fans haha! Jason McCoy also made a special guest appearance playing with the guys. Then the previous artists including Santa and the team from Kicx closed out the show with Sleigh Bells. They all looked like they had fun singing together and Dani who made a great Santa generously tossed gifts into the crowd. It was a very Merry night indeed!
